Are you a hands-on hospitality leader who thrives in a busy environment? Hills Basketball Association is looking for an experienced Café Manager to take the reins at Fred’s Café, located at Hills Basketball Stadium, home of the Hills Hornets.
About the Role
Fred’s Café serves players, families, and visitors throughout the week and across busy weekend fixtures. As Café Manager, you’ll take full ownership of the café’s day-to-day operations, from staffing and rostering to stock, finances, and customer experience, while ensuring every visitor gets great food, fast service, and a warm welcome.
This is a part-time role (32 hours per week) requiring flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
What You’ll Do
- Manage all aspects of café staffing — recruitment, onboarding, training, and rostering
- Oversee ordering, supplier relationships, and stock control
- Manage the café’s finances, invoicing, and budgeting
- Set and monitor menu pricing
- Ensure food safety, cleaning, and equipment maintenance standards are consistently met
- Lead and supervise café staff, handling everything from performance to conflict resolution
- Deliver excellent customer service
- Support larger event catering and special menus as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate
- Current driver’s licence
- Proven cash handling skills and experience with POS systems
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience thriving in a fast-paced hospitality setting
- A team player who can also work autonomously
Highly regarded (but not essential):
- Previous café or catering management experience
- Experience managing diverse teams
- A passion for great food and exceptional customer service
