What is the Rep Rookie Program? 

U12 Rep Rookie athletes are selected from our Representative trials, as they have been recognised as players of potential and our coaches are excited at the prospects of their development. The Rep Rookie program provides regular elite training sessions and two carnivals to those athletes that were not selected in a Hornets Representative team, but gives them the opportunity to reach their full potential.

2024 TRIAL PROCESS

JUNIORS | U12 – U18

TRIAL 1 | Non-Rep + External Rep Players 

TRIAL 2 | Male and Female athletes selected from Trial 1 and Hornets Representative players from 2023 can attend.

TRIAL 3 & 4 | For all players that are selected from Trial 2.

**U16 & U18 Girls will hold open trials on Trial 1. This means Non-Rep, External Rep and 2023 Hornets Rep players will attend. 

  • Players MUST register online and pay a one off $40 fee for the trial.
  • Parents and caregivers are unable to spectate during Trials.
  • Players are asked to wear a light/dark reversible singlet to trials. 
  • Trials are held at the Hills Basketball Stadium, Fred Caterson Reserve, Castle Hill & Bernie Mullane Sports Complex, Marella Avenue, Kellyville.
  • Squad lists will be posted on the website by Tuesday afternoon following each trial. Those listed will be required to attend the following trial.
  • Players who withdrew from a 2023 Hornets team after teams were announced will not be considered for selection for 12 months.
  • All parents of selected players will be required to attend the compulsory team meeting. Day & time to be confirmed. 
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your trial time.

ONLINE REGISTRATIONS CLOSED.

SENIORS | NBL1

Players MUST submit an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST to trial for the Hills Hornets NBL1 team in 2024.  Must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to trial.

Coaches will advise players if they are required to attend trials. This is at the discretion of HBA coaches.  

Note: NBL1 trials are held separately to Waratah & Youth League Trials. Players looking to trial for Youth League or Waratah MUST register online and attend specific trials.

SENIORS | WARATAH & YOUTH LEAGUE

Players MUST register online and pay a one off $40 fee for the trial. Must be paid at least 48 hours prior to trial. 

Those interested in being considered for NBL1 must submit an NBL1 Expression of Interest, where coaches will select who can attend the trial. Please note these are separate trial and to be considered for both Youth League/Waratah and NBL1, you must attend both. 

A junior athlete that is age eligible (top age U18s) may also trial for a senior division. Should a junior player be selected in a senior team, all junior representative commitments must take priority.

  • Players may be cut from the squad at any time during trial period.

Hills Representative Program will accept a maximum of three transfers per junior age group from other Representative Associations competing in the Waratah Junior Metro League. Players who have moved into The Hills Council region are required to apply for special consideration to not be classified as a transfer.

INTENT TO TRIAL FORM | Players looking to trial from another Club must complete the online  “Intent to Trial Form”. Click here to fill out the form, once this form is submitted all associations involved and Basketball NSW will receive an email notifying them of your application.

NSW CLEARANCE FORM | If selected in a Hills Hornets Representative team, a NSW Clearance Form will be lodged by Hills Basketball Association with the previous Association. Please note that clearances can be refused due to outstanding monies or equipment. 

INTERSTATE CLEARANCE FORM | If selected in a Hills Hornets Representative teams interstate players must complete an Interstate Clearance Form. Click here to download an Interstate Clearance Form.

Premier Division, Division 1, Division 2 | Allowed one transfer per team

  • Players who were not named in any team and did not play in Pre-Season or the regular Season in the previous season will be classified as a “free” transfer if playing in Division 1 or below. They will still require a clearance to be processed.  
  • Where a player has moved into the Hills Shire, special conditions may apply.
