COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Hills Basketball Association is seeking a highly organised and passionate Community Development Officer to support the delivery of a wide range of community, participation and development programs, including school programs and player development pathways.

It combines coordination, stakeholder communication and hands-on coaching support to create high-quality experiences for players, coaches and families.

You’ll facilitate the delivery of programs using established approaches, with guidance and support from the Community Development Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support a range of community, participation and development programs.
  • Support delivery of school-based programs and community engagement initiatives.
  • Travel to venues and local schools to support program delivery and community engagement.
  • Roster, brief, support and contribute to the development of coaches.
  • Assist with delivery of skills sessions, camps and development programs.
  • Manage equipment, schedules and program logistics.
  • Act as a key point of contact for parents, participants, coaches and stakeholders.
  • Manage administration, database systems, accurate record keeping, data integrity and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to improvements in program delivery and participant experience.
  • Support the promotion of programs and community participation initiatives.

About you

  • Experience working in a sporting association or community sport environment.
  • At least 2 years’ experience coaching basketball (volunteer or paid).
  • Previous sports administration or program support experience.
  • Strong organisation, coordination and communication skills.
  • Customer-focused and community-minded.
  • Confident engaging with coaches, players, parents and community stakeholders.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Coaching qualifications (Basketball Australia or equivalent).
  • Valid NSW drivers licence.
  • First Aid / Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays.

This is a permanent part-time role, 25–30 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday, with hours in the evening and Saturday morning to align with our after-school programs. Hours may vary during school holidays.
