MINIBALL CLUB

Transitioning into local competition has never been easier. The Stingers Club is the ultimate stepping stone for kids (born 2016–2019) moving up from our Hornets Academy and Learn to Play programs. Just nominate your child, and we’ll take on all the logistics, from matching them with teammates to managing the competition entry. 

If your child wants to play but doesn’t have a team, the Stingers are here to make it happen!

Hills Basketball runs two competitions per year, a Summer Season (running from October through to April) and a Winter Season (running from April through to September). 

Miniball games are played at Hills Basketball Association managed venues on Saturdays, specifically the Hills Basketball Stadium (Castle Hill) & Bernie Mullane Sports Complex (Kellyville). 

One parent or guardian will be asked to volunteer as Team Manager with duties including rostering score bench, communication of team draws, forfeits, and game fee invoices. Fees are broken into three sections which includes Team Entry Fees, Player Registration, and Team Game Fees.

Hills Basketball are able to provide an experienced Level 1 Coach should a parent or guardian not be available. However, we encourage a volunteer to use this time to learn from our experienced coach for future takeover.

The Stingers Club is purposefully designed for Miniball-aged children (U9 – U12) who are ready to transition into competitive play.

Some exceptions have previously been made for older age groups, however this decision is made on a case by case basis.

  • Non-Competitive (Game Scores Not Displayed) for U9 Boys & Girls and U10 Girls

Fill out the online nomination form before Thursday, 6 August 2026 5pm to secure your spot in the Summer 26/27 season. Late entries are not guaranteed a position.

We'll Build A Team

Leave the matchmaking to us. Once registrations close, we’ll review all the individual nominations and group players together to build complete, game-ready Stingers teams. Keep an eye on your inbox, however keep in mind we won’t have teams formed until Sunday, 16 August 2026.

Meet Your Team Day

We’ll be hosting a MEET YOUR TEAM DAY for our newly formed Stingers teams on Saturday 10 October (please save the date in your calendar). Details will be emailed to you closer to the event. This day gives the players a chance to meet the other members of their team and train together prior to the season commencing.

Optional Add-ons

Customise your season to fit your needs! Because we operate on a no-frills basis to keep entry costs low, you have the choice to add extra support if you want it. As a team, you can choose to add a dedicated Hornets Academy Coach for your weekend games. You can also sign up for weekly Stingers Training to sharpen those skills, either as a team or an individual.

FEE STRUCTURE

COMPULSORY FEES 

Each player is required to pay an annual registration fee. Registration includes individual player injury insurance and affiliation to Basketball NSW. 12-month & 6-month registration options are available.

12-month Registration $125 (online) per annum *$135 (front desk)

6-month Registration $95 (online) 6-month only *$105 (front desk)

The team is invoiced a total of fees, including Game Fees, team entry and administration. The team manager will then notify the team members of their portion of the fees. Each team member is responsible for paying their individual portion via their player dashboard.

GAME FEES | The team is invoiced for the number of games played during the competition (excluding byes and Grand Finals). $98 per game per team.

TEAM ENTRY FEE | The team is invoiced for the cost of entering a team in the season. $90 per team.

ADMIN FEE | The team is invoiced an administrative fee for assembling the team. $100 per team. 

PLAYING NUMBERS & UNIFORM

Singlets – Stingers teams will play in a Hornets Academy reversible singlet, available for purchase through our online store. P

Shorts – Stingers teams are also asked to wear black shorts (no pockets). Black shorts are available from a variety of retail outlets but can also be purchased via our online store.

Please make sure that each player in the team has a different number on their Stingers singlet. Any problems please contact competitions@hillshornets.com.au

Managers are asked to add uniform playing numbers and colour through their personal dashboard. The scoring app used on-floor will automatically populate data each week. Click here to learn how.

OPTIONAL ADD-ON | STINGERS TRAINING

$148 / term

Whilst the STINGERS club can not offer additional courts for exclusive team training, we do offer STINGERS TRAINING SESSIONS for players or teams looking for additional support or guidance.  You can either sign up as a team or an individual, and receive weekly training during season to compliment your on floor experience. 

  • 9 sessions per term

  • Sessions for U11 – U17

OPTIONAL ADD-ON | HIRE A COACH

$400 / team

Don’t feel quite ready to take on coaching responsibilities? Hire a dedicated Hornets Academy coach to guide the team during weekend games. Due to limited coaching resources, priority is given to first-year teams for this add-on.
