STEP 1. COMMUNITY REFEREE


Start your working pathway by becoming a Community Referee. Refereeing upskills your knowledge of the game, whilst giving back to the basketball community. 

  • Applicants must be turning 13 in the year of the course.
  • Completion of Community Referee Course required. Click here to view upcoming courses.
  • Onboarding and induction commences after attending Community Referee Course. 
  • Pathway from community to FIBA. Coaching, bootcamps and development opportunities.
  • Referees are paid under a Hobby Declaration for recreational pursuit or hobby

STEP 2. HORNETS ACADEMY COACH


The next phase of your working development is to become a Hornets Academy Coach. Coaching helps you improve your leadership and communication skills, whilst developing the next generation of basketballers. 

  • Apply from 15 years of age.
  • Completion of Club Coaching Course required. Click here to view upcoming courses.
  • Apply to become a Hornets Academy Coach. Applications should be emailed to info@hillshornets.com.au and include coaching certificate and resume. 
  • Approximately four applicants are onboarded & inducted each term.
  • Pathway from community to Representative. Courses, seminars and development opportunities.
  • Hornets Academy Coaches are paid under a Hobby Declaration for recreational pursuit or hobby.

STEP 3. SUPERVISOR


Now you’ve got the skills and passion for the game, you are able to apply for a Supervisor role. Supervisors have diverse responsibilities, including local competition game supervising, representative game day management and receptionist duties. 

  • Apply from 18 years of age. 
  • Coaching, referee and playing knowledge required. Preference to those applicants who have undertaken Step 1 and/or Step 2.
  • Apply to become a Stadium or Game Supervisor. Applications should be emailed to info@hillshornets.com.au and include coaching and/or referee accreditation and resume. 
  • Application and interview stage required. 
  • Successful applicants will be contacted when a position becomes available.
  • Supervisors are employed on a casual basis.

STEP 4. ADMINISTRATION & MANAGEMENT STAFF


Basketball is your passion! You’ve got all the skills to become part of our operations team. Studying Sports Administration or Business or moving from another field, Hornets team is continually expanding and looking for skilled part-time or full-time members. 

  • Apply from 18 years of age. 
  • Coaching, referee and playing knowledge preferred. 
  • Sports Administration or Business degree preferred or 2 years administration/management experience.
  • Applications should be emailed to info@hillshornets.com.au and include resume. 
  • Applicants will be contacted when a suitable position becomes available.
  • Interview stage required before appointment.
  • Administration or Management staff are paid as casual or permanent staff pending role.
