RESPECT THE GAME SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD

Last Saturday, we were proud to present Evelyn Edwards, from Pink Magic in U12 Girls C with the first ever Respect the Game Sportsmanship Award. NBL1 Women Team Captain, Cassie Pentney, presented Evelyn with her prize pack at centre-court prior to tip-off.

Evelyn was a unique recipient, in that she was nominated by an opposition team. Of her behaviour in their game, the opposition said that Evelyn was a “standout good sport”. She went out of her way to support and encourage players on the other team who were lacking in confidence, exemplifying her respect for the game and others. The opposition team was motivated to contact us and nominate her, simply due to the impact that she had on their players.

‘Respect The Game’ is our campaign to promote respectful and positive attitudes between players, coaches, referees, spectators and staff. Together we can continue to build a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for all members of our community.
