Last weekend, our Hills Hornets competed in the NBL1 East ANZAC Round. The NBL1 awarded an ANZAC Medal to a selected player in each game across Australia in commemoration of the ANZAC spirit.
The Anzac Spirit can best be described as someone who displays the qualities of endurance, courage, ingenuity, good humour and mateship. Not confined to the battlefield, the spirit of the ANZAC still lives within our communities.
The NBL1 asked coaches and referees to vote for the players that best embody the ANZAC Spirit, with both Liam Moss and Shawn Montague being selected.
On Saturday, Shawn fought hard against Norths, with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. Similarly, Moss came out swinging against Newcastle, where he finished the game on 27 points and 5 rebounds, closing out the game to win by 1.
Congratulations to both Liam and Shawn, we are proud of your achievements.
