Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to be selected to be a Rep Rookie?

Yes. Athletes are selected from Representative Trials.

If I accept a role in the Rep Rookie program will it effect my local competition team?

No. Officially Rep Rookie athletes are not an active Representative Player. Therefore the ‘rep rule’ known in local competition does not apply to Rep Rookie athletes. In addition, they are eligible to play in correct age group ie U9s, U10s, U11s or U12s as per year of birth.

Is there a chance I will be moved into a Representative team from Rep Rookie Squad?

The answer is most likely no. Most Hornets representative teams consist of a 1-2 Development Players. Usually a Development Player is moved into a team should an additional player be required.

Will my child be automatically selected in a Hornets Representative team next year?

No. Unfortunately placement can never be guaranteed. However we can advise that players participating in our Rep Rookies Program will become a more dynamic, competitive and skilled player.

Is this program available to athletes who play Representative Basketball at a different Association?

No. This program is for non-representative players.
