HILLS BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION | ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING UPDATE
On the 24th of June, Hills Basketball held its 31st Annual General Meeting. Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, the meeting was conducted amidst Covid restrictions, with a small contingent attending in person and the remainder joining via Zoom.
President, Russell Graham, spoke to the annual report, noting not only the strong performance of the Association across a number of metrics in a very difficult year but the significant role the Hornets community played in supporting one another in dealing with these difficulties.
CEO, Steve Burke, supported Russell’s thanks and acknowledgement of our players, parents, coaches, managers, officials, sponsors and supporters and their role in continuing Hills Basketball’s upward trajectory during a global pandemic. Both Russell and Steve also highlighted the contribution of the HBA Committee of Management and the extraordinary efforts of the HBA staff in not just maintaining the Association throughout 2020 but actually increasing facilities and member numbers.
Lyle Vallance stepped down from the position of Treasurer at this meeting and issued a statement thanking the staff of Hills Basketball and his fellow Committee members for their efforts during his tenure and noted the leading position the Association holds within basketball in NSW. In turn, Russell and Steve thanked Lyle for his valuable contribution over the past 5 years.
Hills Basketball was fortunate to have Life Member and former Treasurer, Paul Nelson stand for the vacant Treasurer position and he was elected unopposed. Also elected unopposed and returning to their positions were Mitzi Crawford (Vice Pres.) and Damien Power (Committee Member).
